<p>Curiouser and curiouser – celebrate the festive season by scampering down the White Rabbit hole to join Alice and friends at Castle Howard’s Mad Hatter&#8217;s Tea Party on various dates till <strong>29 Dec</strong>. Take a seat at the most sumptuous table in The Chess Club with whimsical decorations and perhaps hosted by the Hatter himself serving delicate sandwiches, freshly-baked scones and intricate miniature cakes to make your smile even wider than the Cheshire cat’s.</p>

<p>Having indulged in a Festive Champagne Afternoon Tea at glorious Grantley Hall, I can highly recommend it. What a treat when you arrive as Christmas music is even played in the car park, while the festive decorations in the Main Hall are simply stunning. Created using the finest Yorkshire produce, the decadent delights are complemented perfectly by the sophisticated ambience and rich surroundings. Your table is booked for two hours and children aged over eight are welcome too.</p>

<p>Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Festive Afternoon Tea at Bettys. Walk-ins (usually after queuing!) are welcome at their Yorkshire tearooms in Northallerton, Ilkley and Harlow Carr, but you can also book for a more luxurious experience at the Imperial Room in Harrogate and Belmont Room in York. Treats include a savoury éclair, quiche and sandwiches, cranberry and orange scones, Christmas pudding, Rudolph macaroon and Clementine slice. That’s Christmas on a plate – with a glass of Prosecco or Pink Champagne to top off the celebrations. Merry Christmas.</p>

First of all, bookings include access to the House and the must-see Mischief at the Mansion experience as well as the extra chance to add a glass (or make that a bottle) of special partner Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine, all in the beautifully decorated Billiard Room. <p>The Twisted Teapot is a small, family-run tearoom that wants you not just to enjoy afternoon tea, but to have an experience. Included in your visit is a varied and eclectic drinks menu whether you like sweet, fruity, still, sparkling or traditional. The café is celebrating <strong>Twixmas</strong> with Festive Afternoon Teas plus there is one still not quite sold out on <strong>19<sup>th</sup> Dec</strong> too (but better book quick). In a takeaway twist, their ingenious North Pole Boxes brimming with treats for two (£28 per box) can be pre-ordered and collected on Christmas Eve. Santa will be happy!</p>

<p>Yorkshire born and baked, afternoon tea at Mama Doreens Emporium is a visual feast. Sit at your table with delicate chinaware and enjoy your savouries and cakes with or without a glass of fizz (know what I’m ordering). They cater for all ages and tastes – children to senior citizens, gluten or dairy free and vegan, as well as takeaways if the cafés are fully booked (as they often are). Mini Yorkshire Pudding with Roast Beef &amp; Horseradish Cream; cupcakes, cocktails, Raspberry &amp; Champagne Pavlova and a Yummy Sweetie Bag to keep kids happy – need I say more?</p>
