The AA Rosette Awards are one of the most prestigious announcements in the culinary calendar, recognising high-achieving chefs and pioneering restaurants. Introduced in 1956, it was the first-ever national scheme for assessing the quality of food and service.



Inspectors visit a hotel or restaurant on one or more occasions to decide whether the establishment merits the accolade. According to the AA, only 10% of restaurants nationwide are of a standard that is worthy of one or more Rosettes, so to achieve any is a great honour. As a tradition, each Rosette winner receives a signature RAK Porcelain AA Rosette plate, a recognised symbol of culinary excellence.&nbsp;



Among the newly awarded restaurants demonstrating exemplary technical skills, two have achieved elite four AA Rosettes: Surrey-based&nbsp;<a href="https://alexanderhotels.co.uk/great-fosters/food-drink/the-tudor-pass/">The Tudor Pass</a>&nbsp;and London’s&nbsp;<a href="https://alexdilling.com/">Alex Dilling</a>&nbsp;at Hotel Café Royal.



From 15 new restaurants awarded three AA Rosettes, where expectations are high and inspectors look for exact technique, flair and creativity, two are from God’s Own County. Best book now before word gets out.

Inspector comments: “Unique and quirky high-skills dining experience in Rudding Park.”



Housed in converted shipping containers on Rudding Park’s immaculate grounds, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant was inspired by the garden’s 52 raised beds, where many of the fresh ingredients are grown. Head chef Adam Degg, who appeared on BBC’s&nbsp;Great British Menu and was also awarded 3 AA Rosettes when he led the team at the hotel’s spa restaurant&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ruddingpark.co.uk/eat/horto/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Horto</a>, hosts the immersive dining experience.



Expect something special at this bespoke open kitchen where the chefs take centre stage creating an appetising food theatre. If you fancy, there are aprons for those who want to get involved or just sit back and enjoy the snacks and assortment of plates along with selected wines, fresh juices and garden-inspired cocktails.&nbsp;

Inspector comments: “Confident cooking of hyper-local produce.”



Located where else but in the cookery school on the Swinton Estate, Masham, just a stroll from the hotel, Chef’s Table by Josh Barnes is an intimate fine dining operation with only 12 covers. Sipping apéritifs, guests sit together at a table facing the kitchen, watching the magic unfold behind the scenes.



The chefs create intricate dishes built on superb seasonal produce, with estate-to-plate ingredients which are grown, foraged, preserved and fermented. Also proudly featured in the Michelin Guide, savour intricate, detailed dishes, perhaps with a quirky wine flight. Eight-course dinner menus (£105 pp) between Wed and Sat, or five-course lunches on Sat (£65 pp), with wine flights from £60 pp.



There were no new five AA Rosette award winners, although&nbsp;<a href="https://angelhetton.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Angel at Hetton</a>&nbsp;led by chef Michael Wignall received the highest accolade last year – the first restaurant in Yorkshire ever to be given such esteemed recognition.

The five AA Rosettes place it on a pedestal alongside the likes of&nbsp;<a href="https://thefatduck.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Fat Duck</a>&nbsp;at Bray, Raymond Blanc’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.belmond.com/hotels/europe/uk/oxfordshire/belmond-le-manoir-aux-quat-saisons/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat&#8217;Saisons</a>&nbsp;in Oxford and newly crowned three Michelin Stars and established five AA Rosette culinary hero, Lancashire’s&nbsp;<a href="https://moorhall.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms</a>&nbsp;at Ormskirk.&nbsp;
