<p>Stylist to the stars (and to the rest of us staring blankly into our wardrobes), Louise Pennington has dressed everyone from red carpet royalty to Yorkshire’s finest. Her client list runs from LA to Leeds – hello, Roxy Shahidi and Gemma Atkinson – but her fashion roots are firmly Yorkshire-grown, starting on the Laura Ashley stand at the Great Yorkshire Show (remember those florals?). Since then, she’s styled for Harvey Nichols, Zara and more, earning a rep for nailing effortless chic – even when the mercury’s soaring. We caught up with Louise for her tips on keeping cool <em>and</em> stylish in the heat, plus a few juicy tales from the fashion front line. Stick the kettle on – this one’s a scorcher.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-s-a-fashion-fail-in-your-book">What&#8217;s a fashion fail in your book?  </h2>



<p>Turning up in the wrong outfit for the occasion –&nbsp;<em>that’s</em>&nbsp;my personal nightmare. I can’t stand feeling unprepared &#8211; it sets off my inner control freak. Right outfit, right place, right vibe – it matters!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-and-your-ultimate-fashion-fave">And your ultimate fashion fave?</h2>



<p>For me, it&#8217;s <em>anything</em> that gives you that instant confidence boost. It doesn’t have to be designer, on-trend or even particularly “fashionable” &#8211; it just has to feel good. Whether it’s a killer pair of jeans, a bold print you love, or that one dress that never lets you down, if it makes you feel fabulous, then it’s already doing its job.</p>

<p>Right now I’m living in my favourite noughties throwbacks – think Pucci prints and Missoni knits – they were&nbsp;made&nbsp;for summer. <p><strong>A personality piece</strong>&nbsp;&#8211; top-to-toe classics might feel a bit <em>safe</em>, a bit <em>meh</em> these days. But give them a twist and suddenly you&#8217;re not just dressed, you&#8217;re <em>styled</em>. Case in point? <p>I’m not your classic &#8220;let’s rip your wardrobe apart&#8221; stylist – unless you’ve&nbsp;<em>really</em>&nbsp;lost sight of the you that makes you feel good. My vibe is more: “You loved it once, let’s find that spark again.” I’m all about restyling what you’ve got, making it feel fresh, and giving it a new lease of life.&nbsp;If it&#8217;s a total no-go, we don&#8217;t chuck it, we <em>sell </em>it. You&#8217;ll never find sad bin bag shots on my Insta, thank you very much.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve styled some fabulous small-screen stars for big life moments, and what I love most is helping women step into the next version of themselves. One standout (and mildly terrifying) day was styling the lovely Jamelia on the set of ITV’s <em>Drama Queens</em>. We&#8217;d never met, cameras were rolling (did I mention I <em>hate</em> being filmed?) – but it turned out to be one of those “wow, this is my job” moments. Total pinch-me stuff.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-fave-event-to-show-off-your-style">Fave event to show off your style?</h2>



<p>I don’t really play favourites when it comes to events, for me it’s<em> always</em> more about nailing the outfit for the day. That means thinking about the venue, the weather (hello, unpredictable UK!) and making sure my client feels confident and completely at ease in what they&#8217;re wearing. </p>

<p>If there’s one thing I want to yell from the changing room, it’s this: fashion should be fun again. Too many people fall into the trap of copying someone else’s look – but even if you buy the <em>exact</em> same outfit, it won’t look the same. Your body’s different. Your vibe’s different. And that’s the magic. Take the inspo, sure, but before you click “add to cart”, raid your own wardrobe. Chances are it’s full of gorgeous pieces just waiting for a remix. A new combo, a different shoe, a little tweak – and suddenly, it’s got a whole new lease of life.</p>
