August is the month for food festivals, and we’ve got a lot to keep you full all summer long.&nbsp;&nbsp;First up is <a href="https://www.welcometosheffield.co.uk/content/events/eats-treats-moor/">Eats, Treats &amp; Moor</a> over in Sheffield who are serving up over 30 food and drink vendors mixed in with family entertainment, live music and cooking demos&nbsp;9-10 August.&nbsp;Or see if you can make your way around the 65 stalls of local food and drink at the ever-popular <a href="https://visitnorthyorkshire.com/events/filey-food-festival">Filey Food Festival</a>&nbsp;9-10 August. 



The <a href="https://greatbritishfoodfestival.com/">Great British Food Festival</a> (16-17 August) welcomes top chefs (hello Rachel Green and Andrew Dickens) alongside live music from Kojo and Hit The Dancefloor against the scenic backdrop of Wentworth Woodhouse. The <a href="https://templenewsamfoodfestival.com/">Temple Newsam Food Festival</a> in Leeds is also on that weekend (16-17 August) with another line up of top chefs and live entertainment, as well as kids cooking classes, artisan markets, a wellbeing area and international street food. 



On the bank holiday weekend (23-25 August)&nbsp;the grounds of Ripley Castle will be taken over by the <a href="https://harrogatefoodfestival.com">Harrogate Food &amp; Drink Festival</a> where local talent will showcase their skills alongside independent traders, comedians, and even a cookery theatre. Pull up a deck chair, grab a glass of champagne, and soak up the atmosphere.&nbsp;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-exhibitions-and-events-nbsp">Exhibitions and Events&nbsp;</h2>



Calling all camper van lovers! <a href="https://harewood.org/events/vw-festival/">VW Festival</a> is set to hit Harewood House with the biggest display of VW show cars and club displays from around the country on&nbsp;9-10 August. Live out your Bridgerton dreams and join <a href="https://www.mansionhouseyork.com/york-georgian-festival">York’s Georgian Festival</a> for a spot of parading through the city. Running from&nbsp;7-11 August,&nbsp;there’s dance lessons, talks, peeks into some of the finest Georgian homes, and it all ends in a ball – how lovely! Over on the coast, <a href="https://www.whitbyregatta.co.uk/">Whitby Regatta</a> is making waves with a full weekend (9-11 August) of entertainment, rowing races, fun run, and a huge fireworks display. Or how about a spot of open-air theatre in the lovely grounds of Newby Hall near Ripon? The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will be performing William Shakespeare’s <a href="https://www.newbyhall.com/event/hamlet-lord-chamberlains-men-newby-hall/">Twelfth Night</a> on&nbsp;15 August.&nbsp;

It’s the last month to explore the colourful public trail of 50 giant artist decorated rat sculptures&nbsp;(don&#8217;t worry, they&#8217;re cute) across Hull and East Yorkshire. Honouring musician Mick Ronson, ‘<a href="https://amischiefofrats.co.uk">A Mischief of Rats</a>&#8216; is a new rat-themed sculpture trail that aims to raise money for The Daisy Appeal whilst entertaining visitors.&nbsp;On until 30 August. 



Over at York Art Gallery internationally acclaimed artist and writer Harland Miller returns to the gallery until 31 August to present ‘<a href="https://www.yorkartgallery.org.uk/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=22346919774&amp;utm_content=176267160949&amp;utm_term=art%20gallery&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=22346919774&amp;gbraid=0AAAAACk8ct-q-qNxsM2rpCwAC4O4PMRbp&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwy7HEBhBJEiwA5hQNomaxDQ2qro08yl4cx0weQ-VoiHkk2woS-HkjKzL4qOO_wESql8vAMhoC4NsQAvD_BwE">XXX’</a>, a new exhibition showcasing paintings and works on paper from his renowned ‘Letter Paintings’ series.



Wakefield Exchange and artist Jason Wilsher-Mills are proud to present ‘<a href="https://experiencewakefield.co.uk/event/jason-and-the-wakefield-adventure/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=22773860070&amp;gbraid=0AAAAACF2qTfwoSJh4ikws3dyd1GPxoZUD&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwy7HEBhBJEiwA5hQNohDy-tRUC-HytuZbDckQrDjL-r4z9_mXyIgOIQrYEsyXqdGzcfn_DBoCMWQQAvD_BwE">Jason and the Wakefield Adventure</a>’, Jason’s first large-scale exhibition of work in his hometown of Wakefield.&nbsp;Through brightly coloured psychedelic inflatables sculptures and interactive digital projections, Jason’s artworks celebrate disability, northern working-class heritage, popular culture and social history. See it throughout all of August.



<a href="https://www.leedspoetryfestival.com">Leeds Poetry Festival</a> (1-10 August) brings the city’s creative spirit to life with a week-long celebration of spoken word, performance, and literary brilliance. Expect powerful voices, fresh perspectives, and a buzzing line-up of workshops, slams, and headline acts from across the UK and beyond.



<a href="https://www.saltburnfolkfestival.com/">Saltburn Folk Festival</a> (8-10 August) is a joyful seaside celebration of music, dance, and storytelling, set against the stunning North Yorkshire coast. With ceilidhs, shanties, poetry, and performances from top folk talent, it’s a feel-good weekend packed with community spirit and toe-tapping tunes.



<a href="https://feva.info">FEVA Festival</a>&nbsp;(8-17 August) that’s the Festival of Visual Arts &amp; Entertainment for newbies) transforms Knaresborough into a playground of 100+ events over 10 days each August &#8211; expect art trail exhibitions, street theatre, workshops and pop-up gigs that fill every nook of the town.

Huddersfield’s <a href="https://huddersfieldbid.co.uk/events/lego-trail/">LEGO Trail</a>&nbsp;transforms the town centre into a playful treasure hunt of giant brick sculptures &#8211; think John Smith’s Stadium, Castle Hill’s Victoria Tower, and even Jurassic Park gates. Running&nbsp;1-15 August.



From&nbsp;26 July to 31  August, Leeds city centre becomes a whimsical Wonderland with a free, family-friendly adventure that brings Lewis Carroll’s dreamlike world to life. There’ll be seven immersive installations spread across iconic spots like the Corn Exchange, Aire Park, Royal Armouries, and Trinity Leeds, you’ll tumble down rabbit holes, stumble into the Mad Hatter’s tea party, meet the Cheshire Cat, and even take on the fearsome Jabberwocky in cinematic style.
