<p>A new Channel 4 six-part police crime drama series set in York will begin on <strong>8 Jan at 9 pm</strong>. <em>Patience</em> stars Ella Maisy Purvis (<em>Kind of Spark</em>, <em>Malpractice</em>) in the title role playing a young autistic woman working in the criminal records department of Yorkshire Police. Laura Fraser (<em>Breaking Bad</em>, <em>Better Call Saul</em>) co-stars as Detective Bea Metcalf who spots Patience’s instinctive ability for unravelling clues and utilises her talent for crime solving. It opens her eyes to the neuro-divergent community (all played by neuro-diverse actors) and the barriers they face in daily life. York locations include Clifford&#8217;s Tower, the Shambles, Minster and Lendal Bridge.</p>

<p><a href="https://jororestaurant.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">JÖRO</a>, renowned for its innovative Nordic/Japanese-inspired cuisine, will be opening its new home within Sheffield’s Oughtibridge Paper Mill development on <strong>15 Jan 2025</strong>. The new Scandi-style dining destination JÖRO 2.Ö is in a beautifully renovated 19th-century mill in the picturesque Don Valley on the edge of the Peak District. This expansion allows married co-owners Luke French and Stacey Sherwood-French to elevate their restaurant, previously housed within the unique shipping container at Krynkl, Kelham Island. The imminent move marks a transformative milestone for JÖRO, which has been reimagined to offer its signature flagship restaurant experience alongside two bars, an all-day dining terrace, outdoor BBQ kitchen, seven boutique rooms and a deli shop.</p>

<p>Opening this month, <a href="https://experiencewakefield.co.uk/our-year-wakefield-exchange/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WX</a> (or Wakefield Exchange) is the West Yorkshire city’s new home for work time and leisure time, combining casual food and drink with remarkable innovation, craft and creativity. This is the latest vibrant space to enjoy coffee and cake, street food and beer, music, art shows and much more. Upcoming exhibitions include <em>Sentinel</em> (<strong>24 Jan – 9 Feb</strong>), a beautiful light installation inspired by the district’s rich coal mining heritage and <em>Ship of the Gods</em>, which links Wakefield’s boat-building heritage to the Norse myth of Skidbladnir (a magical shape-shifting vessel large enough to carry all the gods but small enough to fold up and fit inside a pocket). Tidy.</p>

<p>A one-of-a-kind restaurant, <a href="https://www.mojobyhyderabadwala.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mojo Royal Treat</a>, has just opened its doors in Leeds, introducing authentic Hyderabad flavours to West Yorkshire. Located in the vibrant suburb of Roundhay, this is the brand’s first restaurant in the north of England, taking the Hyderabad Wala Group’s total portfolio of UK eateries to six. The team decided to invest in the West Yorkshire city as it has a fantastic, eclectic culinary scene that pays homage to a breadth of different cultures. Speciality dishes include Biryani, Karwari Prawns and Cauliflower Kempu Bezule.</p>

<p>Recently opened and located in the heart of Sheffield – New Era Square, <a href="https://selenasheffield.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Selena</a> is a stylish cocktail bar and kitchen for those who enjoy bottomless brunches, lunches and dinners – and let’s face it, who doesn’t? Skilled mixologists craft the cocktails and mocktails, while there are plenty of fine wines, classy bubbles and sassy spirits, too. The Mediterranean menu centres round tapas-style dishes for sharing, though, don’t worry, there are larger plates, too, and plenty for vegetarians and vegans.
