<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-riot-women-spotted-in-hebden-bridge"><em>Riot Women</em> spotted in Hebden Bridge</h2>



<p>All <em>Happy Valley</em> and <em>Last Tango in Halifax</em> fans listen up! Sally Wainwright’s next TV drama <em>Riot Women</em> is currently filming in West Yorkshire’s Hebden Bridge and will hit <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2024/riot-women-casting-announcement">BBC One</a> and iPlayer TV screens next year. The series dives headfirst into the world of five women who, along with two riotous backing singers, create a makeshift punk-rock band in order to enter a local talent contest, but in writing their first original song, soon discover that they have a lot to say. It’ll star Tamsin Greig, Joanna Scanlan, Rosalie Craig, Lorriane Ashbourne and Amelia Bullmore.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://kaiserchiefs.com/">Kaiser Chiefs</a> have announced a massive gig at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album <em>Employment</em>. The band will perfom with a huge supporting line-up, including Razorlight, The Cribs, The Coral, We Are Scientists, HotWax and Ellur. <em>Employment</em> was released in March 2005 and included hits <em>I Predict A Riot</em>, <em>Oh My God</em> and <em>Every Day I Love You Less And Less</em>. The seven-times Platinum and multi-award-winning album remains the biggest-ever selling record from a Leeds artist and the songs have become anthems for the city. Every day we love them more and more! Let&#8217;s just hope getting your mitts on tickets isn&#8217;t as painful as it was to see Oasis.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-sweet-news-for-chocoholics">Sweet news for chocoholics</h2>



<p>A taste of the Caribbean has landed in Ilkley. <a href="https://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/chocolate-shops/ilkley.html">Hotel Chocolat</a> has just opened a new café on Brook Street which features bakes and savoury recipes created in-house by Development Chef David Demaison. Based on dishes from the renowned restaurant at Hotel Chocolat’s cacao farm in Saint Lucia, the fresh cakes and pastries are all made fresh at the in-store bakery at Trinity Leeds shopping centre. Roomy pants on and avoid the scales for a week, it&#8217;ll be calorie-busting.</p>

<p>Have you seen the new sculpture celebrating 400 inspirational Leeds women? The newly unveiled piece, named <a href="https://www.ribbons-sculpture-leeds.co.uk/">Ribbons</a>, has been created by artist Pippa Hale and can be found at the top of the gardens between Leeds Playhouse and Leeds City College’s Quarry Hill Campus. The artwork features suffragette Isabella Ford, Olympic boxer Nicola Adams and Leeds West Indian Carnival founder Gertrude Paul amongst others. It also pays tribute to unsung heroines of Leeds like Tina Suryavansi, who runs Homeless Hampers, and Rebekah Wilson who set up the charity Zarach to combat child poverty in the city. Developed by local MP and Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, and led by Leeds Arts University in partnership with Leeds City Council and Leeds City College (member of Luminate Education Group), the project aims to celebrate women, past and present, who have contributed to the city. Well worth your gaze.</p>
