<p>Roomy pants on team, because the <a href="https://www.squaremeal.co.uk/restaurants/best/uk-top-100-restaurants_238" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SquareMeal 100</a>, the annual list of the UK&#8217;s top 100 restaurants drawn up from a compilation of diner votes and in-house restaurant critic opinion, has been announced! And no less than 11 Yorkshire eateries have made the cut, with six in the top 50, and a further five in the top 100. Time to tuck that napkin, let’s dig into the hottest tables in town.</p>

<p>Just grazing the top 10 we have Mýse, a rustic restaurant with rooms nestled amongst the dreamy Howardian hills in the picture perfect village of Hovingham. Named after the Anglo-Saxon word for ‘eating at the table’, trad Yorkshire cooking shapes this modern British menu, as does time and place with ingredients and flavours in the locale dictating the produce driven 14-dish strong tasting menu. With regenerative farming and sustainability at the heart of everything Mýse do – we&#8217;re talking foraging fermenting, infusions, the works – it&#8217;s not surprising they&#8217;ve made the cut.</p>

<p>This Nordic Japanese fusion restaurant could, until recently, be found in a shipping container in Sheffield city centre. But its new home at the picturesque Oughtibridge Mill has earned it a spot in the top 20 and for good reason. Pronounced Yoro, meaning Earth in Old Norse, the restaurant is an open plan, informal, immersive dining kind of vibe where guests get swept up in the buzz of the kitchen, as much as the seasonally driven tasting menu.</p>

<p>At first glance, The Angel at Hetton looks like your quintessential Yorkshire pub, but inside the Japanese inspired decor – living fungus walls and all &#8211; transports diners miles away. While the food, described as modern, technical and meaningful, has earned The Angel numerous awards since it opened in 2018 – hello Michelin Star, five AA Rosettes and now 15th best restaurant in the UK. </p>

<p>Ooooh this is a swanky one. Located at Grantley Hall, one of the finest hotels in the UK, Michelin starred chef Shaun Rankin&#8217;s titular restaurant is a treat for the eyes (and the tastebuds). Rankin&#8217;s tasting menu focuses on sustainability and quality with ingredients sourced from local suppliers and the hotel&#8217;s very own kitchen garden. Traditional so expect fish, meat and sweet plates followed by petite fours, but bougie (tasting menus start at £130 before wine), yet also incredibly down-to-earth &#8211; Rankin is a born and bred Yorkshire man after all!</p>

<p>If farm to fork is your vibe then Roots York ticks that box. The Michelin-starred former pub come super popular restaurant sources its ingredients from chef Tommy Banks&#8217; family farm to produce modern dishes which don&#8217;t stray too far from Tommy&#8217;s Yorkshire roots. Fresh and uncomplicated dishes, served in a relaxed and informal dining room, yet gastronomically grand. </p>

<p>You&#8217;ll find Forge on the grounds of the stunning Middleton Lodge Estate, and as you&#8217;d expect from a 200-acre, dreamy country estate, it&#8217;s fine dining all the way here people! Choose from a six or ten-course taster, both of which focus on sustainability with much of the produce grown in the estate&#8217;s kitchen garden earning Forge its first Michelin Green Star last year.  </p>
