<p>Time to do the white thing? The snowdrop walk at the 16th-century Goldsborough Hall includes more than 100 different varieties, with fabulous names we love such as G Mrs Thompson and G Wendy’s Gold. Garden visitors (including dogs on leads) have access to the 12-acre grounds of this private former royal residence most days for £8.50 (adults), but <strong>23 Feb</strong> is a special Snowdrop Sunday, when there will be plant sales, head gardener talks and refreshments served in the Orangery. <strong>£7.50</strong> per adult, children free.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-burton-agnes-hall-driffield"><a href="https://www.burtonagnes.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Burton Agnes Hall</a>, Driffield</h2>



<p>Thousands of snowdrops blanket the woodland floor each year in the award-winning gardens at Burton Agnes Hall. Enjoy a peaceful hour forest bathing your way around the trail, then, if you&#8217;re feeling a bit Monty Don, visit the stalls of plants and produce – Burton Agnes sells its own propagated snowdrops in the green, which (apparently!) is the best way to grow them. Then off to defrost in the café with a flat white and a wood-fired pizza. Burton Agnes&#8217;s Snowdrops in the Woodland runs until <strong>23 Feb</strong> and garden admission fees apply, but it is free for Historic Houses members, carers and children under four.</p>

<p>Harewood House has a new family-friendly Wildflower Walk you can follow and search for snowdrops against the spectacular backdrop of the house&#8217;s North Front. The trail sheet, available from the courtyard, includes fascinating facts about these little white bundles of joy, including the difference between native and non-native species – who knew! Free to Harewood members and complimentary with a valid day ticket until <strong>14 March</strong>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-austwick-hall-settle"><a href="https://www.austwickhall.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Austwick Hall</a>, Settle</h2>



<p>Set in the dramatic limestone scenery of the Dales, the gardens at Austwick Hall nestle into a steeply wooded hillside, making the drifts of snowdrops even more gorgeous. There is a trail with sculptures along the way and family fun, then off to the café to warm up. Austwick Hall is steeped in history – it was once owned by Sir John Yorke, master of the mint for Edward VI, as well as being home to English barrister Sir Charles Ingleby. House tours and garden visits are available for groups by prior arrangement, <strong>£8pp</strong>.</p>

<p>In 2016, visitors helped with a challenge to plant 300,000 snowdrop bulbs to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens. Now the rest of us can enjoy the product of their hard work as we wander along the ha-ha and relish the views over the south lawn and parkland. Dogs on leads are welcome in most areas including designated tables at the rear of the restaurant and the shop. Free entry for National Trust members as well as a selection of other passes and children under five.</p>

<p>Carefully nurtured over the past 20 years by professionals and volunteers, the gardens at Wentworth Woodhouse are awash with snowdrops. Dogs are welcome and the gardens are fully accessible, then it&#8217;s off to the Butler’s Pantry Café and Gift Shop. Snowdrop Season is throughout Feb and admission is <strong>£8.50 pp</strong>, while children and carers are free. On Fridays in Feb, there is also a Head Gardener Snowdrops Guided Walk &amp; Lunch at The Camellia House for <strong>£65 pp</strong> from 10am – 1pm.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-nostell-priory-wakefield"><a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/yorkshire/nostell" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nostell Priory</a>, Wakefield</h2>



<p>There are a massive 300 acres to explore here, with meadows, lakes and woodlands, where the snowdrops grow in swathes beneath ancient trees and in clumps around the kitchen garden. There are splashes of colour too, from the carpets of stunning yellow winter aconite, the bright sunny blooms of witch hazels and rosy-pink winter cyclamen from February. Young uns will enjoy exploring the woodland adventure area while there is also a Wellness Trail with 10 benches to encourage words of wisdom and mindful activities. Reduced admission fees until <strong>28 Feb</strong>, National Trust members and children under five are free. Dogs are not allowed.</p>

<p>The dark stone of the historic hall provides a dramatic contrast to the white frost coating the formal lawns and the swathes of snowdrops when they beat their way through the chilly temperatures. Dogs are welcome on the lower fields along the riverbanks as well as the formal gardens, but not in the house or Bothy tearoom, which is well worth a visit for some freshly baked scones. Free entry for National Trust members and under fives; reduced admission fees until <strong>1 March</strong>, with family tickets from <strong>£9.75</strong>.</p>
