<p>Reading&#8217;s cooler northern twin, Leeds Festival is one of the biggest, loudest and most iconic weekends in the UK&#8217;s music calendar. Taking over the August day bank holiday hooley are big names including Charlie XCX, Chase &amp; Status, Dave, Florence and The Machine, Kasabian and the phenomenal Raye. Expect big crowds, bigger singalongs and that unbeatable festival buzz that makes you forget how tired you are. Pack your flip flops and your wellies (let’s cover all the bases!), embrace the chaos and if you happen to embarrass your teenagers by knowing all the words, we&#8217;d call that a win. <p>Two mega names are launching this brand-new Leeds festival in Roundhay Park, and they’re not messing about. Friday night belongs to global party-starter Pitbull (Mr Worldwide himself), joined by special guest Kesha, while Saturday sees Scotland’s favourite heartbreak balladeer Lewis Capaldi taking top billing. More acts are still under wraps, so keep an eye on the festival website as the line-up fills out. Day tickets start from £74.95, and if you’re bringing a small sidekick aged 2–9, the Child + Guardian ticket at £69.95 feels like a rare win. </p>

<p>Get your groove on at this big, bold, disco-loving knees-up set in the glorious grounds of Harewood House. This is a full-throttle celebration of house, disco, funk and soul, with a line-up stacked with absolute icons &#8211; think Armand Van Helden, Roger Sanchez, Groove Armada, Craig Charles, Alison Limerick and plenty more serving up wall-to-wall bangers. Tickets are £57.94, which feels like decent value for this much glitter and good energy &#8211; but be warned: they&#8217;re nearly all gone. So don’t blame it on the boogie if you miss out…run, don’t (moon)walk. </p>

<p>Don&#8217;t hang about &#8211; Sheffield&#8217;s biggest knees-up is filling fast. With most tickets already snapped up, only Saturday VIP (aka The Fancy Bit) and a handful of weekend tickets are still up for grabs. Blimey indeed. Hardly shocking, though, when Hillsborough Park is hosting a three-day line-up that includes Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Fatboy Slim, and Yorkshire&#8217;s own Kaiser Chiefs. It’s refreshingly family-friendly, with plenty to keep small people entertained, heavily discounted tickets for under 12s plus excellent street food to keep everyone fuelled between sets. Big tunes, good vibes, minimal effort — the City of Steel knows how to throw a party.</p>

<p>Into emo, pop-punk and rock? Dig out the Vans, reapply the liner and borrow your teen&#8217;s skateboard &#8211; Slam Dunk Festival is back and celebrating its 20th birthday. Now officially the UK&#8217;s biggest independent rock festival, it&#8217;s bringing the noise with the likes of Good Charlotte, Knocked Loose and plenty more to keep the mosh pits lively. It&#8217;s a north-south affair, with bands tearing up at Hatfield, Hertfordshire on Saturday before heading up the M1 to Temple Newsam on Sunday. Early bird tickets have already gone (of course), but general admission starts at £130, and under-fives go free if you&#8217;re raising a baby headbanger. </p>

<p>With its total mish mash of genres, the question is: what do you fancy? Indie, pop, rock, and electro, Deer Shed is chocker with musical acts that could see you discovering your new favourite jam. Set in the gorgeous Baldersby Park &#8211; a private 18th Century landscaped country park close to the A19 and A1, near Topcliffe, Thirsk &#8211; festival goers can also enjoy the rich program of arts and science workshops, sports, roller disco, cinema, nature, comedy, and theatre while they&#8217;re at it. Unsurprisingly, it&#8217;s a big hit with the littlies. This year there’s even a giant maze packed with puzzles and escape-room style challenges if you want to lose the kids &#8211; literally. Got a tent or campervan? Then make a weekend as all tickets include free camping.</p>

<p>If you err on the side of classical, get Ryedale Festival locked down in the diary. Hugely prestigious but never stuffy, this much-loved festival once again brings outstanding performers from across the globe to play in some seriously beautiful North Yorkshire settings. This year’s programme opens on 27 March in Pickering, with the brilliant Takács Quartet performing works by Haydn, Debussy and Beethoven — and yes, it’s good enough to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Even better, details of the much-anticipated Summer Festival (10–26 July) will be revealed the same evening. Elegant, uplifting and very Ryedale.</p>

<p>Back for its fifth year, full details are still under wraps but expect another smartly curated mix of contemporary and traditional jazz popping up across venues around the city. The good news? Each act is individually ticketed, so you can dip in and out without your purse taking a pounding. And if previous years are anything to go by, there’ll be plenty happening beyond the gigs too — think improvisation workshops, artist talks and a few special extras thrown in for good measure. One for jazz fans <em>and</em> the jazz-curious.</p>

<p>Missed out on Radiohead’s big reunion tour? Fear not &#8211; Not Radiohead might just be the next best thing. Catch them (and nearly 50 other tribute acts) at Tribfest, officially the world’s biggest tribute festival and a gloriously shameless celebration of great music done very well by people who really, <em>really</em> love it. Spread across six stages over four days, you’ll find all your favourites getting the tribute treatment — from Madonna and Sam Fender to Kasabian and The Killers — at a fraction of the cost of seeing the real thing (and with far less queueing for merch). There’s comedy and rising stars on other stages, a jam-packed Kidzone to offload the mini-mes, and if one day just won’t cut it, you can pitch up and camp. </p>
