Yes, we may be getting ahead of ourselves, but we’re so excited about <a href="https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/harlow-carr/whats-on/harlow-carr-glow" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">RHS Glow at Harlow Carr</a>(19 Nov – 23 Dec) that we couldn’t help but shout about it.  Don’t miss the <a href="https://www.walkingeastyorkshirefestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ilkley Lido Swim</a> on 7 Sept &#8211;  an atmospheric evening dip under the stars, all in support of this much-loved outdoor spot. Over at Castle Howard on 6 Sept, things go bump in the night (in the best way) with a bat walk through the historic estate – ideal for little explorers and curious grown-ups alike. From 21 June to 21 Dec, Fountains Abbey lights up (literally) with Between Chaos &amp; Light, a stunning immersive exhibition from artist Ed Kluz – perfect for that hit of culture-meets-nature. Feeling the call of the wild? The <a href="https://www.walkingeastyorkshirefestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Walking East Yorkshire Festival</a> (6–14 Sept) has hikes, history trails and countryside escapades galore, whether you&#8217;re a seasoned stomper or just fancy a gentle wander with a view. And green fingers at the ready – the <a href="https://www.newbyhall.com/event/harrogate-autumn-flower-show-19th-21st-september-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Harrogate Autumn Flower Show</a> (19–21 Sept) returns to <a href="https://www.walkingeastyorkshirefestival.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Newby Hall</a>, blooming with seasonal inspo, glorious displays, and enough plant-based eye candy to fill your Insta feed until Christmas

Head to Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens on 6–7 Sept for Art in the Gardens, where you can snap up original pieces (from oils to ceramics) direct from local artists – all set against glorious late-summer blooms. Over in Hull, <a href="https://www.hullmuseums.co.uk/homepage/76/ferens-art-gallery-collections" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ferens Art Gallery</a> hosts Microworld (until 7 Sept), a brilliantly bonkers family-friendly experience where digital creatures react to your every move. Fancy a culture hit with goosebumps? Step into Eonarium Enlightenment (‘til 21 Sept) – a mind-blowing Vivaldi-meets-visuals show at Leeds City Museum that takes you through the seasons in 30 mesmerising minutes.



In Harrogate on 11 Sept, Berwins Salon North is your night of ideas – think TED Talk meets cabaret, with three expert speakers unpacking the beautiful chaos of human relationships. Over in Leeds (11–13 Sept), T<a href="https://www.carriageworkstheatre.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">he Great British Bake Off</a><a href="https://www.carriageworkstheatre.co.uk/whatson-event/the-great-british-bake-off-musical/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Musical</a> rises at <a href="https://www.carriageworkstheatre.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Carriageworks Theatre</a>, serving up comedy, charm and soggy bottoms in equal measure. <a href="https://york-unlocked.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">York Unlocked</a> (27–28 Sept) flings open the doors of some of the city’s most iconic – and secret – buildings, all for free. And if you’re craving a buzzy night of grassroots culture, mark 24 Sept for the next <a href="https://artwalkwakefield.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wakefield Artwalk</a> – a brilliant bi-monthly mix of pop-up galleries, music, street art and unexpected delights across the city.

Over at the ever-glorious Wentworth Woodhouse, things take a turn for the fabulously fun with <a href="https://wentworthwoodhouse.org.uk/house-of-fun-season/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">House of Fun</a> (5 Aug–16 Nov), a playful, hands-on exhibition all about parties, excess and imagination – think costumes, games and a little dose of Downton-meets-disco. Mini trainspotters, rejoice: <a href="https://www.whistlestopvalley.co.uk/dayoutwiththomas" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Thomas the Tank Engine</a> is pulling into <a href="https://www.whistlestopvalley.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Whistlestop Valley</a> on 20–21 Sept for two days of rides, party vibes and 80th birthday cheer (yes, he’s looking good for his age).



Over in Leeds, the Force is strong at <a href="https://farmercopleys.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Middleton Railway</a> on 28 Sept with <a href="https://middletonrailway.org.uk/etn/star-rails/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Star Rails</a> – where stormtroopers from the Mos Eisley Misfits Garrison will be patrolling platforms, posing for pics and proving they definitely don’t just live in galaxies far, far away. Meanwhile, <a href="https://farmercopleys.co.uk/pumpkin-festival/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">In the Night Garden Live</a> rolls into Huddersfield for its magical stage show (19-21 Sept), and <a href="https://farmercopleys.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Farmer Copley’s</a> iconic <a href="https://farmercopleys.co.uk/pumpkin-festival/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pumpkin Festival</a> is just around the corner – think wheelbarrows full of gourds, family photo ops and more orange than a Bake Off tent in October.

Over at <a href="https://markets.leeds.gov.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kirkgate Market</a> on 6 Sept, things are heating up (literally) at the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/indianfoodfestival1/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Leeds Indian Food Festival</a> – think spice, colour, and all the samosas you can handle.



Foodies, set your sat nav for <a href="https://holmfirthfoodanddrink.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Holmfirth Food &amp; Drink Festival</a> (13–14 Sept), where live music, artisan bites and family-friendly fun take over the town in a glorious weekend of indulgence. And of course, no September would be complete without a pilgrimage to the <a href="https://www.yorkcaravanpark.com/york-food-festival/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">York Food Festival</a> (19–28 Sept) – a 10-day celebration of regional flavours, wine tastings, chef demos and pop-up joy all across the city. Pack your appetite and wear stretchy trousers.

First up, unleash your inner big kid at Grown-Up Night at Web Adventure Park (6 Sept), where soft play, fairground rides, foam parties and DJs take over for one gloriously silly, adults-only evening. Over in Harrogate on the same day, <a href="https://www.lovetobeevents.co.uk/festival" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Love to Be Festival</a> lands on The Stray with a massive House music line-up, a revamped main stage, VIP vibes and serious Ibiza energy without the airport queues.



If fast cars are more your thing, head to <a href="https://www.sportscarsinthepark.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sports Cars in the Park</a> at <a href="https://www.newbyhall.com/event/sports-cars-in-the-park-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Newby Hall</a> this autumn for a family-friendly day packed with shiny motors, great atmosphere and access to the stunning gardens and adventure playground. Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.netheredgefestival.co.uk/wordpress/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nether Edge Festival</a> (13–21 Sept) brings a full week of eclectic joy to Sheffield — think music, dancing, walks, poetry, talks and quizzes galore.
