<p>Is it even Christmas until you follow the aromas of mulled wine and hot chestnuts to the festive markets? In Yorkshire’s favourite foodie town, the two-day annual Malton Christmas Festival is <em>the</em> shopping event of the year. Expect a fabulous weekend of fun in and around the picturesque Market Place with delicious seasonal street food, craft stalls, live brass bands and choirs. Malton’s indie shops will be packed with gift ideas, too – plus there are plenty of bars and restaurants to for a yule refuel. Find family entertainment in the Milton Rooms, storytelling in the Creative tent and look out for the North Yorkshire Rotters Workshops, with their home composting tips to help reduce food waste. <p>The Harrogate Christmas Fayre will be steaming back to the pedestrianised areas of Cambridge Street and Market Place in the twinkling town centre, famed for its tree lights along the Stray. The popular Candy Cane Express road train will also return, taking market-goers on a tour past festive highlights during Fridays to Sundays, while the Little Bird Made artisan stalls will also be bringing their seasonal tweets to the Valley Gardens at weekends. Among the mix of local traders and traditional European Christmas stalls, find home-made crafts, moreish street food, festive decorations and a range of unique gift ideas. Music and entertainment will also add to the Christmas atmosphere from <strong>29 Nov – 15 Dec</strong>.</p>

<p>Leeds leads the way in festive shopping (discuss!) and the traditional Christmas Markets will be popping up on prime locations like City Square and Millennium Square, with a variety of stalls selling unique gifts, crafts and tantalising street food from around the world. Soak up the atmosphere and tuck into festive foodie treats that embody the Christmas spirit (often literally) from <strong>22 Nov – 24 Dec</strong>. The city will also host Little Bird Artisan Markets every weekend, featuring unique handmade gifts by an amazing selection of local artists and independent traders. These will take place on Briggate every Sun from <strong>17 Nov</strong> and additionally on Bond Court every Sat and Sun from <strong>23 Nov</strong>.</p>

<p>The Piece Hall brings peace on earth to Yorkshire shoppers with its six spectacular weekends of festive cheer during the run-up to Christmas. The vast courtyard will become a winter wonderland, complete with a towering Christmas tree, a Victorian carousel, live musical performances and a chance to meet Father Christmas himself. Over 50 stalls showcase the best of regional talent with a curated selection of indie food and drink producers alongside skilled artisan makers offering special gifts. There&#8217;s an indoor makers marquee, stocked to the brim with unusual, artisan stalls as you hunt down the perfect pressie for that special someone, pet (or even yourself, we won’t tell). You may even snap up a festive bite to eat with seasonal snacks. <p>The historic town of Beverley will return to a magical Christmas shopper’s wonderland when over 120 stalls set up shop in the town centre on <strong>8 Dec</strong>. Santa and his reindeer will make a VIP appearance and children will undoubtedly love to round up those antlered retrogrades with a self-guided Reindeer Rampage Christmas Trail until <strong>31 Dec</strong>. Fairground rides, birds of prey displays and the sounds of traditional brass bands drifting through the cold December air may also very much put you in the mood for Christmas.</p>

<p>Held in the Town Hall, this spacious indoor venue means that shopping is fun whatever the weather and there are plenty of arts and crafts stalls to choose from to fill these stockings with candles, diffusers, jams, felting, baking, textiles, paintings, jewellery, 3D maps and more. Stop off at the café for steaming hot chocolate and other calorific goodies. Held on <strong>30 Nov</strong> and <strong>7 Dec </strong>from<strong> 10am – 4pm</strong>, it’s only <strong>£1</strong> per adult and children are <strong>free</strong>. The bonus is they coincide with Grassington Christmas Markets, held outdoors around the festively decorated cobbled village square on <strong>30 Nov</strong> and <strong>7 Dec, 10am – 4pm</strong>.</p>

<p>Over 30 stalls in the Town Hall promise the finest creations from artists, crafters and makers across Craven and the Yorkshire region. You&#8217;ll have to see fory ourself if they deliver! Luxury soaps, bath products, candles, ceramics, cards, homeware and stationery are all up for grabs, and you can also slip off to the Hub Café bar if all that shopping gets too much. It coincides with Skipton Council’s High St Christmas Market on <strong>8 Dec</strong>, which will also be held on <strong>1 Dec</strong> alongside the Skipton Festive Artisan Market along the Canal Basin (weather depending).</p>

Sixty chalet-style stalls will stretch from the Town Hall Square to the bottom of the Moor with a host of local traders which sounds daunting but hey, steady your nerves at Alpine bars for hot cider and mulled wine or snack on seasonal treats such as German sausages, Yorkshire Pudding wraps and churros. <p>In addition, for cosy, indoor shopping in Sheffield, head to historic venues <a href="https://themowbray.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Mowbray</a> and newly restored and just opened <a href="https://thevictoriasheffield.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Victoria</a> on Rowland Street for the Festive Festival 2024. You can move freely between both buildings, with The Mowbray &amp; Friends Christmas Food Hall stuffed full of seasonal goodies and Victoria &amp; Friends Christmas Market for gift inspiration. Tickets cost from <strong>£5</strong> for Entry and Festive Tipple (more for pre-ordering food like turkey butties or a Christmas cheese plate) and there is a choice of two time slots on <strong>1 Dec</strong>: <strong>11am – 2pm or 2pm – 5pm</strong>.</p>
