<p>A feast for the eyes, afternoon tea here is not just delicious but a work of art. All sandwiches, cakes and pastries are beautifully presented and decorated with flowers, fresh petals and a tiered display turning this treat into a masterpiece. Choose from Standard (£33pp) or Superior (£37pp) including Prosecco, or spoil your mum with Deluxe (£85 for two) which allows for unlimited teas and coffees as well as a large bottle of bubbles or No-secco. There are children’s menus too (from £18 per child), gift vouchers and even a takeaway version (£29pp), but that would be to miss out on the ambience and friendly service.</p>

<p>Once a school, York Minster Refectory is now a dining destination – and its Yorkshire Rose Afternoon Tea is not to be missed. Hosted in partnership with Bradley’s Jewellers and Fabergé, this limited edition treat inspired by Michelin Star Chef Andrew Pern, will run every Wed, Fri and Sun during March and over Mother’s Day weekend till 19 April. Think Yorkshire Gold Tea (only best here), Arlington eggs, Stamfrey Farm clotted cream and Hawes Wensleydale cheese &#8211; and there&#8217;s even a Fabergé-themed egg dessert plus an optional glass of English Brut Rosé. <p>It&#8217;s the grande dame of the Yorkshire tea scene, and its tiers of precision pastries and finger are sarnies are legendary. Walk-ins (usually after queuing – though I wouldn’t even risk it on the 30th) are usually welcome at their Yorkshire tearooms in Northallerton, Ilkley and Harlow Carr, but you can also book for a more luxurious experience at the Imperial Room in Harrogate and Belmont Room in York to be sure to get a table. Their savouries, sandwiches, mini scones and cakes are famously moreish while you can toast the occasion with a glass of Collet Rosé Champagne (£52.95pp) or Prosecco (£44.95pp). Settle in in the elegant Drawing Room and enjoy the Signature Afternoon Tea for £65pp or go non-alcoholic for £75pp, but we would highly recommend pushing the tea trolley out and going for the Champagne Afternoon Tea with a decadent glass of Dom Perignon (£140pp). She&#8217;s worth it, you&#8217;re worth it – more Champagne, <em>garçon</em>! – it&#8217;s the perfect drinkie to accompany Executive Pastry Chef Stefan Rose&#8217;s delicate finger sarnies and intricate cakes.</p>
