<p>So we’re still recovering from Mel B joining Sporty Spice on stage in Leeds a couple of weeks ago. If you hadn’t clocked, Sporty Spice was performing at Project House to promote her new album, <em>Sweat</em>. Her former Spice Girls bandmate and Leeds resident, Mel B, rocked up to belt out Spice Up Your Life, which is, incidentally, 30 years old this year. Yikes. Anyway, here’s our roundup of some other TV, film and music stars frequenting our glorious county.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tucci-drops-into-ilkley"><strong>Tucci drops into Ilkley&nbsp;</strong></h2>



<p>Drinkers at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/39coffeeco/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Thirty Nine Coffee Co</a>, in The Grove, Ilkley, got a shock when Stanley Tucci dropped in earlier this week. The Devil Wears Prada star was apparently filming something but so far we have been unable to determine what.&nbsp;&nbsp;We&#8217;ll definitely watch it though.</p>

<p>What happens when keeping up with the property chain goes properly sideways? You’ll find out soon enough. <em>Wrong Move</em>, a darkly comic thriller from Channel 4 is being filmed right now in West Yorkshire. Leading the cast are David Thewlis, Rory Kinnear, Eve Myles and Eleanor Tomlinson.. .​</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-michael-faraday-biopic-in-rotherham">Michael Faraday biopic in Rotherham</h2>



<p>The story of Michael Faraday &#8211; he’s the electromagnetism guy &#8211; is being brought to the big screen and it’s being filmed here in Yorkshire. <em>Power &amp; Glory</em>, a biographical film directed by Norman Stone, is currently shooting at the magnificent Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham and the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet in Sheffield. Conor Sánchez, who recently appeared in BBC drama <em>Mix Tape</em>, takes the lead role of Faraday, joined by Cosmo Andy Harrison and Gaia Wise.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-dame-judi-dench-is-coming-home-to-york"><strong>Dame Judi Dench is coming home to York</strong></h2>

<p>We could cry about this and we’ve actually put the date in our family calendar. This November, Her Majesty Dame Judi Dench herself is heading back to the city where she was born for a very special evening at <a href="https://www.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk/show/dame-judi-dench-is-it-too-late-to-make-a-run-for-it/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">York Theatre Royal</a>.</p>



<p>This November, Dame Judi will take to the stage at York Theatre Royal for <em>Is It Too Late to Make a Run For It?</em>, an intimate conversation about her extraordinary new memoir of the same name, joined on stage by her friend and writing partner Brendan O&#8217;Hea. Sales opened on <strong>8 May</strong> so, um, better be quick.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-jarvis-cocker-brings-a-hodge-podge-to-hepworth-wakefield"><strong>Jarvis Cocker brings a Hodge Podge to Hepworth Wakefield</strong></h2>



<p>Jarvis Cocker and his wife, creative consultant Kim Sion, have been announced as the curators of a major new exhibition at <a href="https://hepworthwakefield.org/whats-on/the-hodge-podge-jarvis-cocker-kim-sion-curate-the-hepworth-wakefield/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hepworth Wakefield</a>. <em>The Hodge Podge</em> will open in <strong>May 2027</strong>, with tickets available later this year.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-paul-weller-at-the-piece-hall"><strong>Paul Weller at the Piece Hall</strong></h2>



<p>Halifax&#8217;s <a href="https://www.thepiecehall.co.uk/events/category/summer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Piece Hall</a> is gearing up for another spectacular summer concert season and the 2026 lineup is an absolute belter.</p>



<p>The TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall series kicks off with Shed Seven celebrating the 30th anniversary of <em>A Maximum High</em> (<strong>6 June</strong>). Then we’ve got Yorkshire legends Embrace, Paul Weller, Skunk Anansie, Scissor Sisters, Divine Comedy and more (no less than 40 in total across the summer).&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-og-diva-york-minster-takes-riba-yorkshire-building-of-the-year">OG diva <strong>York Minster takes RIBA Yorkshire Building of the Year</strong></h2>



<p>One of the county’s finest celebs is York Minster herself. The diva went and bagged the RIBA Yorkshire Building of the Year for the stunning Heritage Quad, designed by Tonkin Liu Architects. The same architects also picked up Client of the Year for the associated Technology Hub, a sleek new building tucked into the former Stoneyard on Deangate, housing state-of-the-art stone-cutting machinery and digital workshop facilities for the Minster&#8217;s heritage craftspeople.&nbsp;</p>
