<p>You’re in safe hands here. Katy Stephens, who plays the White Witch in Leeds Playhouse’s much anticipated adaptation of <em><a href="https://www.leedsplayhouse.org.uk/event/the-lion-the-witch-and-the-wardrobe-2">The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe</a></em>, joins the company following leading roles at Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Shakespeare Company, whilst the director Michael Fentiman has been nominated for three Olivier Awards (for his 2020 musical production of <em>Amelie</em>) and Associate Director Pip Minnithorpe has directed both <em>Harry Potter</em> and <em>Wicked</em> in the West End. Um, will that do you?! There’s also a local debut, in keeping with the Playhouse’s strong community ethos. Actor Alfie Richards, from Harrogate, makes his Leeds Playhouse debut playing the lovable faun Mr Tumnus following in the hoofprints of screen legend James McAvoy (no pressure!) who played the role in the 2005 film.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gulp. There’s under a fortnight to go until opening night on <strong>18 Nov 2024</strong> and, perhaps unsurprisingly given the buzz behind this production, tickets are selling like hot chestnuts. The theatre has already added extra matinée performances on <strong>27 Dec 2024</strong> and <strong>3 Jan 2025</strong> but this is your official Muddy warning not to leave booking until the last minute – there will be no walking through the wardrobe for you if it&#8217;s sold out.</p>

<p>Bragging rights incoming! Leeds Playhouse has a reputation as one of the top producing theatres in the UK and you can catch the show here at the Quarry Theatre first before it heads off on a year-long tour around the UK and Ireland. Whilst C.S.Lewis’ iconic tale of the magical, wintry land of Narnia resonates always, there’s something particularly magical about watching it around Christmas, particularly with the kids.</p>

<p>If panto dames and puns every few minutes aren’t for you (oh no they’re not – I’ll get my coat), <em>The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe </em>could be your dream family alternative. The show promises magic and illusions, puppetry and special effects as part of the theatrical experience, with an advisory age of 6+, though I dare say if your bribe bag of treats is special enough your toddlers will play ball.&nbsp; The show runs to two and half hours with an interval so just factor that in before you buy.</p>

<p>If you haven&#8217;t made it to award-winning Leeds Playhouse in the city centre before, now is the time to hotfoot it over. One of the UK’s leading producing theatres, the Playhouse was named Most Welcoming Theatre in 2022 (well, it would be, wouldn’t it, being in Yorkshire!). Now nearly 55 years old, but with a gorgeous 1990 facelift and a glamorous relaunch in 2018 it&#8217;s a fabulous spot for culture followed by Christmas shopping where you can focus on a slightly different wardrobe!</p>
