<p>God’s own country has countless new openings happening this year, but one we’re feeling particularly hungry for is <a href="https://swinethatdines.co.uk/">The Swine That Dines</a> &#8211; V2. After closing its much-loved city centre location, diners thought they would have to live without its delectable food and wine forever. But fear not! The brand spanking new restaurant has relocated to a bigger site in beautiful Headingley. Expect a seasonally changing menu brimming with comfort food delights – think black pudding and British pies – but made in a far more elegant and sophisticated way than your bang average caff. Oh, and did we mention that a bigger place has allowed for a bigger wine offering? The gift keeps on giving.</p>

<p>Meanwhile in York, we’ll be heading to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/blackwheatclub/tagged/?hl=en">Black Wheat Club</a>, a new micro bakery and bistro offering artisan pastries and all day brunch/lunch (we can also confirm it&#8217;s just added evening food to its agenda – winning)! We’ll be joining the ever-present queue for their salt beef poached eggs and breakfast stew &#8211; plus multiple custard pastries, just for balance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-on-the-box">On the box</h2>



<p>Here’s something we never thought we’d say: Hollywood hotties Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have been spotted prancing around the Yorkshire Dales! Filming for the new <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32897959/"><em>Wuthering</em> <em>Heights</em></a> movie takes place in and around Yorkshire. The stars are portraying their best Cathy and Heathcliffe from the famous Brontë novel. We can’t <em>wait</em> to see the movie release make its debut. Now we mention it, a hike around the Dales sounds really quite tempting all of a sudden… who’s joining us?&nbsp;</p>

<p>We’ve been loving the new Disney+ series <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt29536553/"><em>No</em> <em>Taste</em> <em>Like</em> <em>Home</em></a>, led by <em>Queer Eye</em> heartthrob Antoni Porowski as he invites celebrities all over the world to discover their foodie heritage. In one episode, he’s joined by Blockbuster Queen Florence Pugh as she discovers her North Yorkshire roots, one delicious dish at a time. While exploring Thirsk and Whitby, they headed to Tommy Bank’s top restaurant The Black Swan at Oldstead – where the top chef himself rustled them up a (very good) Yorkshire Pudding. Well worth a watch.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-sad-goodbyes">Sad goodbyes</h2>

<p>Sandwich spots can be just that: a run of the mill café offering basic sarnies designed to fill the hole and nothing more. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DHHOE28saOW/?hl=en">Thug Sandwich</a> in Harrogate, however, has managed to master the art of making ‘bread filled with things’ (uh, yeah… that’s an art?) something to be genuinely excited about. That’s why we were super sad to hear the much-loved independent spot – which has been standing strong for seven years – decided to sell up for new owners. Let’s just say they have big boots (and bellies) to fill! </p>



<p>We&#8217;re also pretty gutted to see <a href="https://www.theowlleeds.co.uk/?fbclid=IwY2xjawJjU-9leHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHoQaHTuLZpuzZq2biUucx0c_czsvB8JYFodfR0rXVjUOYo37co3WShry22YO_aem_9nrz3VCmrB9G7G_xA6hGvg">The Owl, Leeds</a> prepare for its unexpected closure at the end of this month, following the departure of their head chef, Mark Owens. After starting out in the humble spot of Kirkgate Market, the fine dining restaurant has been proudly perched on Mustard Wharf for three great years – offering a mouthwatering menu and delicious wines to accompany Leeds’ stunning river views. But it’s not all doom and gloom! The owners have teased a ‘new chapter’ coming very soon. *Constantly refreshes website for updates*</p>

<p>If you’re in the mood for dancing this summer, you’ll be right at home at the York Races – both <a href="https://www.yorkracecourse.co.uk/racing-fixtures-details.html?meetid=160&amp;meettitle=Music%20Showcase%20Weekend%202025">Sophie Ellis-Bextor <em>and</em> Natasha Bedingfield</a> will be taking to the stage on 25 July. The 00s pop icons will be headlining to serenade the crowds with their hottest hits – guaranteed to get everyone up from their seats (or picnic blankets). </p>



<p>Meanwhile at <a href="https://www.firstdirectarena.com/events">First Direct Arena in Leeds</a>, you’ll find world-famous acts including Bryan Adams, Diana Ross, Ricky Gervais, Billy Ocean, and the Scissor Sisters making their Yorkshire pit stop – and that’s just this year! Safe to say the arena won’t be short of merchandise sales anytime soon.</p>
