<p>Things are hotting up, and if the weather gods are to be believed (for once), we&#8217;re in for a proper scorcher this summer. And where better place to cool off than on one of Yorkshire’s beautiful beaches? With over 90 miles of glorious coastline, deciding where to pitch up for a paddle can be a bit of a minefield, but fear not. We’ve whittled it down to five of our absolute faves, so you can just grab your sunnies, slap on the SPF and go. You’re welcome.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nope, not the movie (thankfully), but <em>the</em> iconic beach that&#8217;s firmly stolen our hearts. Saltburn is seriously having a glow-up and we&#8217;re here for it. Think endless sandy stretches you can still stroll at high tide, sunset cocktails on the seafront, and the kind of laidback charm that will make you want to stay all weekend. Located in the b-e-a-utiful sand and shingle beach of Saltburn, <a href="https://theseaviewrestaurant.co.uk">The Seaview Restaurant</a> serves up ridiculously good seafood with views to match. And for coastal wellness vibes, there’s even a boujee beach sauna halfway down. Who needs a spa day when you&#8217;ve got sea air and scallops?</p>

<p>Fancy a proper coastal blowout? If you’re over York way, this beauty&#8217;s just over an hour&#8217;s drive &#8211; and totally worth the trip. With wide, sandy shores perfect for running the dogs (or the kids) ragged, it&#8217;s spot-on for a spontaneous beach day. If you&#8217;re feeling adventurous, it’s&nbsp;<em>the</em>&nbsp;go-to spot for kitesurfing, jet skiing and even horse riding along the waves – basically, it&#8217;s beach-day goals! All that fun got your tummy rumbling? Head to <a href="https://thecowshedatfraisthorpe.co.uk">The Cow Shed</a> for brunch done right or a cracking Sunday roast. Or go full seaside cliché&nbsp;and take the three-mile walk to Bridlington for old-school fish and chips and an ice cream – just watch your cone around the seagulls. They will mug you. </p>

<p>Tucked away from the crowds, this quaint little fishing village isn’t on many folks’ radar and let’s be honest, we kind of hope it stays that way. Just 22 minutes from Whitby, it&#8217;s got bags of charm – think cobbled lanes, swoon- worthy sea views, and a harbour that feels like it&#8217;s been plucked from a storybook. It’s perfect for a spot of crabbing and rock-pooling with the kids or if indie shopping is more your bag, you’ll love getting lost in the local galleries and shops. And whatever you do, don’t even <em>think</em> of leaving without grabbing the catch of the day at the <a href="https://www.codandlobster.co.uk">Cod and Lobster</a> &#8211; it&#8217;s the stuff of local legend. </p>

<p>When the tide is out, you can wander the glorious three-mile stretch of golden sand between Whitby and Sandsend. Time it right and you might pass beach yoga, group dips or even a pop-up sauna en route. Once there, you&#8217;ve got options: head inland to the luxe <a href="https://saltmoore.co.uk">Saltmoore estate</a>, owned by ex-Love Island star Montana Brown and fiancée Mark O’Connor, or make your way to the ever-glorious <a href="https://www.fishcottage.co.uk">Fish Cottage </a>at the end of the sandy stretch. The <em>King prawn risotto</em> is spot-on, the catch of the day is always a win, and their rustic taco rack will leave you with a happy stomach. Crab fries for the table? Rude not to. </p>

<p>When it comes to hidden gems, Cloughton is an absolute belter that somehow flies under the radar (not complaining… more peace and quiet for us, thanks very much). Picture this: a secluded cove nestled between the more popular destinations of Scarborough and Whitby, featuring a stunning secret waterfall complete with pebbled beach – <em>the</em>&nbsp;dreamiest location to picnic in peace. But it doesn’t stop at the shoreline. Wander inland and you&#8217;ll find lush woodlands teaming with nature and wildlife. Mobile phone off, retreat mode on.&nbsp;</p>
