 The outrageously funny and explicit <a href="https://www.bradford-theatres.co.uk/whats-on/the-book-of-mormon">The Book of Mormon</a> is coming to the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford for the first time from 5 – 23 Nov.&nbsp;Not one for the easily offended, the reputation of this multi-award-winning musical goes before in more ways than one! Written by South Park geniuses Trey Parker and Matt Stone and co-created by Robert Lopez (co-writer of Disney songs Frozen and Coco), audiences’ sides end up splitting following a pair of Mormons on a mission far from their home in Salt Lake City.&nbsp;It&#8217;s a 17+ lower age limit for tickets, and 6 year olds need to be accompanied by parents which will give you a clue to the content!



Rather less controversial and family friendly is the enchanting world of Narnia when <a href="https://www.leedsplayhouse.org.uk/event/the-lion-the-witch-and-the-wardrobe-2/">The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe</a> returns to Leeds Playhouse from 18 Nov 2024 – 25 Jan 2025 following its wildly successful West End and UK tour. Based on the classic novel by C S Lewis, this spectacular stage show pitches the heroic children against the evil White Witch. 



Also worth your theatrical energy is hit musical <a href="https://leedsheritagetheatres.com/whats-on/and-juliet-2024/">&amp; Juliet</a> as Romeo&#8217;s missus breaks free of the balcony scene and proves there is life after love at Leeds Grand Theatre &nbsp;from 18 – 30 Nov, John Godber&#8217;s <a href="https://www.eastridingtheatre.co.uk/the-highwayman/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Highwayman</a> continues its successful run at Beverley’s East Riding Theatre until 9 Nov, and Jason Donovan is back in high heels for his repeat role as Frank-n-Furter in <a href="https://www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/events/the-rocky-horror-show-2024">The Rocky Horror Show</a> at Sheffield Lyceum from 25 – 30 Nov.

At the <a href="https://ysp.org.uk/">Yorkshire Sculpture Park</a> near Wakefield, local artist Liz West: Our Colour Reflection will create a joyful immersive artwork in the Chapel (above) from 15 Nov 2024 – 5 Jan 2025 &#8211; well worth the visit, while renowned exhibition Alchemies by leading contemporary artist <a href="https://ysp.org.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/bharti-kher" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barti Kher</a> continues until April 2025. Art lovers should also check out The Four Seasons exhibition at <a href="https://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/">Danby Lodge National Park Centre</a> (free entry) offering a stunning array of landscape-inspired pieces by artist Lesley Birch till 10 Nov, or discover eight sculptures nestled amongst the trees at the <a href="https://www.maltonsculpturetrail.org/">Malton Sculpture Trail</a> in Dalby Forest, blending art and nature for the perfect Sunday stroll (till Nov 24).



A spotlight is shining on York as the UK’s first <a href="https://mediacityexpo.com/?mc_cid=1458294ac7&amp;mc_eid=a8ce2cc8d1">UNESCO City of Media Arts EXPO</a> is being launched to celebrate the city’s 10th anniversary of global designation. Set within this year’s BAFTA-qualifying <a href="asff.co.uk/tickets">Aesthetica Short Film Festival</a> (ASFF) and held at the Guildhall from 7-9 Nov, it’s free to meet and mingle with the attending filmmakers, gaming executives and other creatives. The première of Steve Messam’s latest commissioned work Lantern I will also transform the historic Guildhall into an immersive and ethereal environment. The ASFF runs in person in person from 6-10 Nov and virtually from 6-30 Nov.

<a href="https://www.tomorrowsghostsfestival.co.uk/">Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival</a> 2024 The ultimate Gothic weekend returns to Whitby on 1 &amp; 2 Nov for a weekend full of music, stalls and events. Headliners include Peter Hook &amp; The Light (Joy Division: A Celebration) and Katatonia. Tickets are available online, while the markets are free to soak up the creepy atmosphere. That’s followed by <a href="https://whitbypavilion.co.uk/event/whitby-rocks-blues-festival-2024-full-weekend-ticket/">Whitby Rocks &amp; Blues Festival</a> from 8 &#8211; 10 Nov with a weekend of performances from top international and local artists such as FM, The Hot Damn! And Yorkshire’s own Loz Campbell in the Northern Lights Suite at Whitby Pavilion.



Hosted by DJ Jack Saunders, Radio 1 rocks up in Halifax&#8217;s Square Chapel Arts Centre on 20 Nov with a line-up including English Teacher, Bea and her Business, South Arcade and emerging Yorkshire singer-songwriter Eden Rain. Listen live or on demand across&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/radio1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Radio 1’s iPlayer channel</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_one" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BBC Sounds</a>.



Or for something completely different Opera North’s <a href="https://www.operanorth.co.uk/whats-on/from-couch-to-chorus-2024/">From Couch to Chorus</a> returns on 5 Nov for a festive edition. Running for four weeks, the award-winning, online singing course is for anyone from beginners to more experienced choir-goers. The course culminates with a live streamed finale event on 26 Nov when participants get the chance to sing with the Chorus of Opera North. How cool is that?! Offered on a Pay as You Can basis and held over Zoom to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

Brand new for this winter, Christmas on the coast will come early in East Yorkshire as Bridlington aims to become one of the country’s coolest seaside destinations. The <a href="http://www.visiteastyorkshire.co.uk/bridlington-ice-trail">Bridlington Ice Trail</a> from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Sat 16 Nov will see a series of frozen sculptures take shape throughout the town depicting Christmas and maritime scenes, with fire and ice shows at 1pm, 3pm and 5.15pm. Also worth your time is the Artisan Winter Weekend at <a href="https://harewood.org/whats-on/event/artisan-winter-market-curated-by-little-bird-made/">Harewood House</a> near Leeds from 7 – 10 Nov where more than 130 local makers, crafters and producers will fill the North Park Walk for this festive shopping spree curated by Little Bird Made. Pre-booked entry fee from just £5 weekday and no charge for Harewood members who can also bring a friend for free on Thursday and Friday, though note the House is closed during this weekend.



And for those who find shopping a little tiresome, this is genius &#8211; how about combining the Christmas gifting with watching by acrobats, jugglers and amazing aerialists soaring high at <a href="https://meadowhall.co.uk/christmas-day-out">Meadowhall</a>, Sheffield? The spectacular family-friendly, high-flying circus show promises to bring the magic of street-style theatre to the shopping centre. Launching on 7 Nov as the grand finale to the popular annual Christmas Parade, it will then run every weekend until 24 Dec, with 10-minute high-octane performances taking place three times each day at 11am,1pm and 3pm.
