<p>Nestled in the picture-perfect village of Harome, just a couple of miles from the market town of Helmsley,&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://www.thepheasanthotel.com/">The Pheasant Hotel&nbsp;</a></strong>sits beside the tranquil village duck pond on Mill Street. I arrived as the sun was setting, which couldn’t have been more perfectly time as it looked straight out of a painting.&nbsp;Harome itself is charmingly sleepy and beautifully unspoilt, with thatched cottages, green verges and a wide village street, yet you’re within easy reach of Helmsley’s shops, cafés and castle for a bit of bustle when you fancy it. In short: if you’re after countryside calm wrapped in proper village charm, this is your spot.</p>

<p>The vibe at The Pheasant is comfy country chic at its finest. This is the sort of place where wellies line up neatly by the door, if you are lucky the managers puppy (Neville) may be at reception to welcome you, and fires crackle invitingly in every corner. It’s relaxed, homely and quietly luxurious. Think honeyed stone walls, plump sofas and the soft glow of candlelight that makes you want to order another glass of wine (something we seriously encourage). There’s a lived-in warmth here where nothing feels too formal, yet everything is so beautifully done. And with much of what’s on your plate coming straight from the hotel’s own kitchen garden, there’s an earthy, down-to-earth authenticity that ties it all together. This is Yorkshire style, done properly.</p>

<p>The food at The Pheasant is, quite simply, divine, and makes you wonder how on earth this place doesn’t have a star (yet). Many of the ingredients come straight from the kitchen garden or its very own farm based just 4 miles away, keeping everything local, fresh and full of flavour. You can choose between the elegant, candlelit restaurant in the conservatory, the cosy bar with its roaring fire (where GM Liam might just let your pooch join you if you ask nicely), or the sunny terrace for those long, lazy afternoons.</p>

<p>The menu is a love letter to Yorkshire full of homely dishes like grouse and venison, but presented with delicate, fine-dining flair. The&nbsp;tasting menu&nbsp;is a must: eight stunning courses for £95 per person, with a beautifully curated wine pairing at £65 &#8211; a real treat that lets you savour every bit of The Pheasant’s culinary magic. Breakfast doesn’t disappoint either, with hearty classics like smoked kippers and fluffy pancakes, while the bar serves up all the comfort food you could wish for. Honest, elegant, and bursting with warmth – it’s a hard yes from us.</p>

<p>The rooms at&nbsp;The Pheasant&nbsp;are comfy Yorkshire chic to a tee. All unique, all beautiful, and each with its own character and charm. No cookie-cutter design here: every room and suite feels thoughtfully put together, with soft hues, rich textures and those little touches that make a stay extra special. Think&nbsp;fresh milk in the fridge, homemade shortbread biscuits, and a bag of Yorkshire crisps&nbsp;waiting for you on arrival. Four-legged guests are just as pampered, with&nbsp;dog treats, a blanket and bowls&nbsp;ready and waiting. Our room (Mallards) was just gorgeous &#8211;&nbsp;two bedrooms, a lounge with an open fire, a kitchen, and views across the orchard to the duck pond, complete with its own private entrance. Beds are the kind you sink into and never want to leave, and the&nbsp;Chapter Organics toiletries&nbsp;add that perfect hint of spa luxury. It’s homely, stylish and the kind of country interiors you take inspo from.&nbsp;</p>

Step outside and you’ll find&nbsp;endless walks right on the doorstep, from gentle ambles around the village to full-blown hikes through the North York Moors. Adventure seekers are well catered for too as The Pheasant has teamed up with&nbsp;Yorkshire Outdoors&nbsp;to offer adrenaline-pumping experiences like&nbsp;quad biking, 4&#215;4 off-roading, clay shooting and more. <p>There’s&nbsp;ground-floor access&nbsp;to some of the rooms and main areas, and staff are more than happy to help with luggage or special requirements if you let them know in advance. The layout is mostly easy to navigate, and parking is close by, making arrivals nice and straightforward. For guests with mobility needs, it’s best to&nbsp;request a ground-floor room&nbsp;when booking to ensure step-free access.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Very! There’s an array of family rooms with lots of space for kids to play and parents to relax. In fact, our room had a super cute bedroom for kids with the beds sat top to tail behind curtains – perfect when wanting to hide away from the grown-ups. The hotel offers family friendly dining and activities too, making your stay even more relaxing.&nbsp;</p>
