<p>Leeds is having a glow up with a spate of 2026 launches, including a new Freight Island outpost, starting development this spring. Popular Sheffield Sardinian restaurant <a href="https://www.domoleeds.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">DOMO</a> is also landing in the city. Expect everything “fatto in casa” (made in house) (no YOU’RE fatto in casa) and some long lunches and late nights. <a href="https://www.dishoom.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dishoom</a> is also opening in Leeds this summer (*please please please have the coconutty fruit crumble on the menu). <br><br>Meanwhile, the much-loved <a href="https://www.highlandladdie.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Highland Laddie </a>pub has bagged a coveted Oliver Award for best pub just a year after opening. The historic pub, which first opened in 1925, has been given a new (old) lease of life, restored to some of its former legacy with a modern foodie twist. It’s well worth a visit.</p>

<p>The doors are finally open at <a href="https://www.guswellness.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Güs </a>in Sheffield. The new wellness place in the historic old Sunday School building offers a range of wellbeing products, including sauna and ice bath sessions (no thanks to the latter, we’ve only just got used to the sun again). <br><br>Meanwhile in York, heritage menswear store <a href="https://aubinandwills.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Aubin </a>will open on Stonegate, bringing durable post-war British design to the men of York in the former Weird Fish shop. How very Peaky Blinders.<br><br>Tried to get a table at <a href="https://inlamentation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Inlamentation</a> yet? Michelin‑starred chef Michael O’Hare has brought his tiny, high‑concept restaurant to Boston Spa, serving avant‑garde tasting menus to a small handful of lucky diners each night. The restaurant claims to be “free from industry trends” and the menus are not published online. Do NOT take your six-year-old niece.</p>

<p>Sheffield and Middlesbrough are on the long list for 2029 City of Culture. Woohoo. The Yorkshire cities will get £60,000 from the Government to help with their bids, and will be up against the likes of Swindon, Wrexham, Blackpool, Inverness-Highland, Ipswich, Milton Keynes and Portsmouth. We’re right behind you, babes.</p>

<p>Vic Reeves’ paintings have gone on display at Bradford’s <a href="https://bradfordmuseums.org/event/jim-moir/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cartwright Hall Gallery </a>for five months. Neo Fauna is a collection of the beloved comedian’s interpretations of British birds and wildlife, from the artist known as Jim Moir in real life. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-a-hole-in-one-in-harrogate"><br>A hole in one in Harrogate</h2>



<p>Harrogate&#8217;s <a href="https://www.ruddingpark.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rudding Park</a> is getting a facelift (well we thought you were already beautiful, darling). Plans are in place for a new 60,000 sq ft golf and country club with seven new padel and tennis courts and the full restoration of its walled garden. We&#8217;d best get Googling those padel rules.</p>

<p>Rumour has it that Huddersfield’s swanky new <a href="https://ourculturalheart.co.uk/huddersfields-former-queensgate-market-to-open-doors-for-heritage-open-days/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Queensgate Market</a> food hall has been delayed by another three months due to rising costs. The plans are grand but it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2027 to get our chai lattes. Boo.</p>
